What Beekio collects, why, who touches it, and how you get it back or delete it. Written plainly, because you should be able to read the whole thing.

1. Who we are
Beekio is operated by Beekio, LLC ("Beekio", "we", "us"). Beekio is the data controller for the personal data described here. You can reach us at support@beekio.com.
This policy covers the marketing site at beekio.com and the application at app.beekio.com (together, the "Service").
2. What we collect
Information you give us
- Account details: email address, name, and password or third-party sign-in (handled by our authentication provider; we never see your password).
- Beekeeping data: hive names, locations you choose to enter (place name and optional coordinates), inspection logs, notes, photos you upload, and your questions to the AI assistant.
- Preferences: timezone, unit choices, and email notification settings.
- Billing: your plan and subscription status. Card numbers are entered directly into Stripe's hosted checkout and never touch our servers.
- Waitlist: the email address you submit to join the waitlist.
Information collected automatically
- Server logs: IP address, browser type, requested pages, timestamps, and error reports. Used to run and secure the Service and to rate-limit abuse.
- Weather stamps: on plans that include it, we look up the weather for a hive's coordinates at the time of an inspection and store the result with that log.
We do not use advertising trackers, third-party analytics scripts, or sell personal data. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 16.
3. How we use it
- To provide the Service: store your hive records, generate action plans, answer questions.
- To send transactional email: welcome, plan-ready notifications, billing receipts.
- To bill you and enforce plan limits.
- To keep the Service secure, prevent abuse, and debug problems.
- To respond when you contact us.
- Product news and offers only if you opt in; you can opt out any time from Settings or the unsubscribe link.
Legal bases (for users in the EEA/UK): performance of our contract with you, our legitimate interest in running and securing the Service, your consent where we ask for it, and compliance with law.
4. AI processing
Beekio's action plans and chat answers are generated by a large language model provided by Anthropic. To answer, we send the model the relevant parts of your beekeeping data (recent inspection logs, hive details, your question, and, if you attach them, photos). We send only what the answer needs, and we do not include your name or email in these requests.
Anthropic processes this data to return a response and, under its API terms, does not use API inputs or outputs to train its models. AI output is guidance, not a guarantee; see the Terms of Service.
5. Who we share it with
We share personal data only with the service providers below, only as needed to run Beekio, and under contracts that bind them to protect it. We do not sell it.

We may also disclose data if required by law, to protect the rights and safety of Beekio or others, or as part of a merger or acquisition (we will tell you first). Some providers are in the United States; where data leaves the EEA/UK it is protected by standard contractual clauses or an equivalent mechanism.
6. Retention
- Account and beekeeping data: for as long as your account exists.
- When you delete your account, your data is marked deleted immediately and purged from our systems within 30 days. Backups roll off within a further 30 days.
- Billing records: as long as tax and accounting law require (typically 7 years).
- Server logs: up to 30 days.
- Waitlist emails: until you sign up or ask us to remove you.
7. Your rights
You can, at any time:
- Access and export your data: inspection logs and reports export as CSV or PDF from the app on plans that include export; ask us for a full copy otherwise.
- Correct anything in Settings or by contacting us.
- Delete your account from Settings, or by emailing us. This is permanent.
- Object to processing or ask us to restrict it.
- Withdraw consent for optional emails.
- Complain to your local data protection authority if you think we got it wrong.
Email support@beekio.com. We answer within 30 days, usually much sooner.
8. Security
Data travels over TLS. The database and image storage are encrypted at rest by our hosting providers. Access to production is limited to the people who run the Service. Every request to your data is scoped to your account. Payment cards never reach our servers. No system is perfectly secure; if we learn of a breach affecting you, we will notify you without undue delay.
9. Cookies
We use only strictly necessary cookies and local storage: to keep you signed in and to remember preferences. No advertising or analytics cookies. Because these are essential, no cookie banner is needed; you can clear them any time in your browser, which signs you out.
10. Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will email account holders and update the date at the top. Continued use after the change means you accept it.
